If you want a Wallet by BudgetBakers alternative that never asks for a bank login and lets you say or scan a purchase instead of typing it, SimplifyPocket is built for that. Wallet is a big, capable app with a free tier, so here's a fair look at what each one does and who each one suits.
What is Wallet by BudgetBakers?
Wallet is a personal finance app from BudgetBakers s.r.o. On the US App Store it's currently listed as Wallet - Daily Budget & Profit, and on Google Play it shows more than 10 million downloads. Its App Store listing pitches it as a way to see all your finances in one place. According to its product page, Wallet offers:
- Bank sync with, it says, "over 15,000 financial institutions worldwide" (the App Store listing says 4,000 participating banks)
- Budgets you can set as one-time or recurring, across any categories
- Scheduled payments with reminders for upcoming bills
- Full multi-currency support
- Investment, stock and crypto tracking next to your bank accounts
- Import of past records from CSV, XLS or OFX files
- Apps for iOS and Android plus a web app
Is Wallet by BudgetBakers free?
Partly. BudgetBakers says Wallet has "a completely free tier for users who prefer manual tracking," and that Premium adds "advanced automation like bank syncing." Group Sharing is also a Premium feature.
Prices are harder to pin down. The product page doesn't list them. As of October 2026, the US App Store shows these in-app purchases:
- Premium: $5.99, $14.99 and $29.99
- Lifetime Premium: $29.99
- 3-Year Premium: $49.99
The listing doesn't say which Premium price is monthly and which is yearly, and Google Play shows a wider range of $0.99 to $144.99 per item. Check the price inside the app before you buy. One plus for Wallet: BudgetBakers offers a Lifetime Premium one-time purchase, so you don't have to pay a recurring fee.
How does sharing work in Wallet?
Wallet shares accounts. Its Play Store listing says selected accounts can be shared with a spouse, family, friends or colleagues who need to cooperate on a budget, and the product page says you choose which accounts are shared and which stay private. That works well if you and a partner already keep a joint account and want to watch it together.
Why look for a Wallet alternative?
Wallet does a lot. That's the main reason some people go looking:
- You don't want to link a bank, and manual entry feels slow. On the free tier you enter spending yourself. If tapping in every purchase is why your tracking keeps lapsing, a faster way to log matters more than more reports. See adding expenses by voice.
- You only want a few numbers. Investments, multiple currencies and cash-flow charts are useful to some people. Others just want to know how much is left in each category before payday.
- You want to share a budget, not an account. If you and a partner pay from different cards, sharing accounts doesn't give you one view of the household's spending.
How SimplifyPocket works instead
SimplifyPocket never connects to your bank. You add spending when it happens:
- Say it. Tap the mic and say "twelve dollars lunch." The app turns it into a transaction for you to confirm.
- Scan it. Scan a receipt, a bill, a bank screenshot or a statement PDF and review what it pulls out.
- Type it. Enter it by hand when that's quicker.
You set a budget per category and can start your budget cycle on the day you get paid instead of the 1st. Add your income and schedule your bills, and the home screen shows what's left to spend this cycle. Our post on budgeting by pay period explains why that lines up better with real life than a calendar month.
To budget with a partner, one of you opens Settings → Household and invites the other by email. Once they accept, you share the transactions and budgets you each add from then on, whichever card you paid with. Anything logged before pairing stays private, and one subscription covers both of you.

The trade-offs to know before you switch:
- No bank sync, on purpose. If you want transactions to appear on their own, Wallet Premium does that and SimplifyPocket doesn't. Our guide to budgeting without linking your bank covers why some people prefer it.
- No investments, no multi-currency, no file import. If you need any of those, Wallet is the better fit.
- No free tier. Wallet has one. SimplifyPocket is paid after the trial.
Which one should you choose?
Choose Wallet if you want bank sync, investment tracking, several currencies or a web app, or if manual tracking on its free tier covers what you need.
Choose SimplifyPocket if you'd rather not connect a bank, you want logging to take a few seconds by voice or photo, and you want to share real category budgets with a partner. Our guide to tracking expenses can help you build the habit.
